The Full Story

Global Game Jam 2017 was one of the most exciting and valuable experiences for me, since I started my studies in the multimedia field. After a fun brainstorming session in the Plovdiv Branch of Technical University of Sofia, my team was spontaneously formed - four programmers and one artist. Yup, that's me!

That year's GGJ theme was WAVES so we decided to keep it traditional and use a straightforward wave as our main game concept... but with a little twist of our own!

My Role

As the sole artist in our team, I was in charge of creating all of the art needed and, of course, to my programmer teammate's taste and needs.

Game Concept

Our idea consisted of a giant garbage tsunami controlled by "Poseidon of the Trash", as we called him, that demolishes a friendly cute neighborhood.
The game was created for mobile devises and featured gyroscope control - shaking the phone like a whiplash would result in mushing the wave. The more the player would demolish buildings, the higher the wave would become.

User Interface

User interface in mobile games is, needless to say, a necessity. I designed the most needed parts for the game to be fully operational - a play and a stop button, and a meter, indicating how the wave is behaving - if it's losing or gaining power.

Particles

We included a nice particle system that resulted visually in scattering trash every time when the wave crashed.
